The General Data Protection Law (“LGPD”) establishes mandatory guidelines for the collection, processing, and storage of personal data.
Influenced by the General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR, which came into force in 2018 in the European Union, the LGPD (Law No. 13,709, of 14/8/2018) came into effect in 2020, representing an important milestone for our society and a major change in the personal data scenario. With the LGPD in force, Brazil became part of a group of countries that have specific legislation for the protection of personal data, empowering data subjects and granting them rights and obligations to be exercised during the personal data processing.
